Under the direction of Michael Pichler, two works bridge past and present: the first movement from Mahler’s unfinished 10th Symphony and the world premiere of Expedition to Paradise, a double concerto for clarinet, trumpet, and orchestra by South Tyrolean-born, Vienna-based composer Gerd Hermann Ortler — tailor-made for the two soloists Andrea Götsch (Vienna Philharmonic) and Bertold Stecher (Berlin Philharmonic).
The Südtirol Filarmonica brings together local musicians from various orchestras, who meet once a year to rehearse and then go on concert tour — in 2025, the ensemble includes 76 musicians. This year, they will also perform for the first time at the Vienna Konzerthaus.
