Südtirol Filarmonica
concert: La forza della fantasia
The sounds of nature, Alpine and Bohemian folk songs, klezmer music and heroic tales were among the main sources of inspiration Gustav Mahler drew upon for his Symphony No. 1, first performed in Budapest in 1889. The work is a captivating musical narrative in which Mahler fascinates audiences with ingenious effects and compelling melodies.
Oscar-winning composer and renowned film-score artist Nino Rota created a landmark work of the solo repertoire with his Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra. Together with the Südtirol Filarmonica, the outstanding South Tyrolean trombonist Peter Steiner will perform the work, which was first premiered in 1969 in Milan, the composer’s hometown. Through Rota and Mahler, the audience, soloist and orchestra will immerse themselves in the theme of the “power of imagination.”
